Fieldtrip to Willows Birds of Prey Centre, Knockholt
At 10.00am on Thursday the 3 rd of July, eight Network members descended on Willows Birds
of Prey Centre, camera in hand, intent on enjoying a bright and breezy day at this highly-
praised wildlife centre tucked away in the beautiful Kent Hills a few miles south of Bromley.
The Centre offers two varied birds of prey flying displays, lots of raptor-handling experiences
and a very wide range of native wildlife species dotted around its 22 acres of beautiful,
tranquil nature trails. Thanks to arrangements made by the trip organiser, Julian Lucchesi,0
our members were also welcomed to sit in on and photograph several bird handling
exercises, and share the knowledge and experience of the handlers. Throughout the day,
there were plenty of opportunities to photograph eagles, hawks, owls and falcons in flight,
and ferrets, goats, pigs, raccoon dogs, and much more around the site. The members left at
the end of the day agreeing that the Willows is definitely a place worth LNPN members
visiting, so we’ll organise a repeat visit in 2026 for sure. Watch out on the website for
information about that trip and a possible invite to raptor racing events. Finally, our thanks to
Julian for organising the field trip.
